Meeting with the Australian High Commissioner to the UK

Last week I was also privileged to meet with the Australian High Commissioner to the UK, the Hon Alexander Downer AC at Australia House in London. The Hon Alexander Downer AC spent 24 years in Federal Parliament and served as Australia’s Minister for Foreign Affairs from 1996 to 2007 (making him Australia’s longest serving Foreign Minister). He was appointed as Australian High Commissioner to the UK in March 2014.

I enjoyed talking to the High Commissioner about a broad range of topics including politics in the UK and Australia, the upcoming UK referendum on Europe, how best to ensure more women put themselves forward as political candidates and Australia’s performance in the Rugby World Cup.
